Back in December 2019, identity on tyne received the good news that they had received Arts Council England funding to facilitate four writing in residence opportunities in the North East for four Black creatives. Being one of those writers, we were just starting to come together in March 2020, and then we were quarantined apart.
What happened over the next two years was a residency that had to pivot, go virtual and still produce. What happened was the creation of a tight-knit Black writers workshop collective which was there to support us through the changes and obstacles and joys.
We created an online exhibition as well as the first Black Nature in Residence Zine.
I’m sharing this now because Black Nature in Residence 2:0 is gearing up to launch this fall in so many ways. I’ll let you know more as plans firm up but in the meantime enjoy and share the zine.
